Here's a pic of me in "coloring book." My mom said I could put "coloring book" pics on here. More fun for you that way cause then you get to color me.....oh, I'm so tickled to be such a big coloring book star. Yeehaa. *Sigh*
Well, enjoy coloring my cute picture that wornderfully displays my atractive looks and the sharp shades of my dark brown hair that is swaying in the breeze from the fan in the hall. The true beauty in my lovely eyes and the rosieness in my cheeks. *cough* Excuse me.
Though, it doesn't look like it has very dark lines on here. Hmmmm. *Sigh* again....
Oh well,

Have you ever noticed that when your talking to someone about something, your conversation quickly changes on and on and on until it's time to go?
I went over to a friend-of-mine's house to hang out. Her siblings were catching up on homework, but she had some free time. We played a board game (about 15 minutes long) then we just talked
(about 1 hour 50 min. long) Then I had to go.
I quickly noticed how our conversation evolved to go on and on and on about different things, but we never changed the subject.
This is as if two people were talking about the upcoming winter season.
Say me , and my friend were the two. I'm Lanna, she's Nika. L and N.

N: Well, winter is here.
L: The calender lies once again.
N: It always lies.
L: I hate lies.
N: My friend lied to me the other day.
L: What about?
N: She said she had to baby-sit for a friend at noon, but really the woman was a complete stranger to her.
L: I baby-sat yesterday.
N: For who?
L: My dance teacher.
N: How's she doing?
L: Fine, I guess.
N: Is she starting lessons with you anytime soon.
L: No, she won't for a while. She's too busy.
N: It makes it hard to do stuff when there is so much ice on the road.
L: Yeah, it's been cold lately. Winter has come so soon.

Here, the conversation has come around through several subjects, but has come back to the start.

I have nothing more to say. I just though I should point that out.

Last weekend, something remarkable happened. Something I have never seen done before. Something I never thought would happen....

My dad read the bible.

My dad had come home from work for the weekend (he works 9 hours away.) He said someone at work had been reciting scripture to everyone about everything. He found his old bible, that he has never really used, and started reading things and having us guess what book it was in. Then he came to Ecclesiastes. He insisted that we read the whole book. He and my mother took turns reading, he mostly. HE said he got a lot out of it. He explained, then sent us to bed.

In the morning, for the first time, he took his bible to work with him.
My mom had called him one night and asked what he had been doing.... "Reading Proverbs " was his reply.

I hope he catches on to this and maybe learns something to teach us, instead of us teaching him.
I'm PROUD!

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW...

I'm studing it now. My mom wants me to since I want to audition for the play that the local privet school is presenting. I want to be a shrew.

To study it yourself, go to http://www.sparknotes.com and from there you can easily get to it. That site is loaded with awesome stuff.

(The school always makes their Shakespeares family friendly.)

Killer Media~or not?

In this day and age the media, (music, TV shows, movies, magazines.....) show people how to live life. From childhood until adulthood, the media has us covered. We may not know it, but we are being told what to do, think, and say by the media.
You may ask some simple questions about this statement, such as:

"How is this possible?"
or
"How can we change this? "

I will answer one question at a time.

1) Q. How is this possible?

A. We, the people, subject ourselves to a lot of television and music. These are two things almost nobody can escape from. Everyone watches TV. Everyone listens to music. Everyone does these things everyday. Almost everything the media puts into those shows and songs are not clean for the mind and soul.
You watch and listen to things that tell you how to dress, behave, take care of your body and self......the list goes on....and on.....and on......and so forth.
How do we stop being fed by the media?

Well, there is an alternative!

Now we venture to question 2 (drum roll please!)

2) Q. How can we change this?

A. Just this, go jump of a large bridge! Run across the US barefoot singing "KILLER MEDIA! SAVE YOURSELF!" Sing the national anthem backwards while burping the alphabet from the top of the Empire State Building! MAKE YOUR POINT! You'll get America's attention! You'll see.

NO! STOP! WAIT! I was just kidding, come sit back down. There's more.

Okay, so we have observed one smart, yet expensive way to stop this media problem. Let's venture another, shall we?
How about simply change your media resources? Changing your CD collection from Brittany Spears and Backstreet Boys to singers and bands like Jars of Clay, Nichole Nordeman, Switchfoot, Newsboys, Big Daddy Weave, Starfield.......whom dedicate their lives to providing uplifting music. They sing about Christian meanings and/or the deeper meanings of life. They sound just as good. You can find just about ANY style of music in this form. There are even Christian bands and singers whom have put out entire CDs about God without once saying anything about God! Like they don't mention his name or anything. They just get to the point! I like that kind of music, strait to the point.
Read movie reviews before watching them. A good place to visit is http://www.christiananswers.net/spotlight/ They have a thing called "MORAL RATING" that does just that, rates the morals.
Also, cut down on TV altogether. Cut down a little at a time. Keep yourself busy with other things. You can still watch TV, just not as much. Then that way you cut down on the amount of media you see. (Disney and Nick are terrible. They are bad media loaded.)

So, you see, the world could be a better place without the bad media, BUT that's not happening today, so we'll just start with one at a time.

QUESTIONS????

Can you hear the music now?

Same song. This time I moved that music player to the top. Also, if it does work, and you what music on yours, go to http://www.geocities.com/somekindofzombie77777/myhomepage/raindex.html
and go to music codes. Read the info and continue. Search for a song by artist. Just click on the letter above that starts the name of the person/band. Find your song. Copy the code. Go to change settings . Then go to the template tab at the top of your page. There you will see a large thingy with lots of letters and numbers and weird shape like things. On the bottem (or top) of all those things, paste the code and save. Then see if it works. I hope I made that clear.

Lanna
Boyfriend? Or not to Boyfriend? That is the Question!!!
1. In your mind, where does the dating age begin?
2. Do you think a friendship between a boy and girl would last longer as boyfriend girlfriend or as just friends, OR does it matter???
3. For all of those 18 and under, have you ever asked a girl/boy out? At what age? and WHY?
4. Last, what will you and do you look for in a friend?
(boy for girls and girl for boys.)

I, as a teenage girl, have other teenage friends who are (or at least WHERE) all into the boyfriend girlfriend stuff. One friend, not name'n names here, wrote me an long e-mail one time explaining how she and this boy she likes where ALMOST boyfriend and girlfriend. AND that they might be SOON. How she told him that she like him. How he reacted. How he huggged her. How she was so sure thins was it. And my sister and I wrote back about saying HOW SHE WAS ONLY 12 YEARS OLD!!! I am going to copy and paste (Yes, I got my friends permission!) the letter I sent her on here. I am only changing were it says his and her names. I hope then you can see where I come from with this subject.

Hi (Friend),
Lanna
and Joe this time.
Not (nickname) this time, I'm talking to (friend). What? Did I read wrong? Why (friend)? What happened to (FRIEND)? What you wrote down below is nothing like me, or YOU! (Boy) is just a boy. B-O-Y. You are a G-I-R-L. Still young. I think of it this way:

You are young for only a few more years. Don't rush growing up. Having boys as friends is fine.....like to just hang out with and (say you are me for a moment) make movies and play music. Do everything you would do with (Friend's friend) or ME. Why would anybody want to grow up to fast? I like being young, goofy, full of action.....I don't talk with my friends about guys or "flirting" or who's "hot." I talk about who's gonna run through the sprinkler first, or how good that song we just heard is, or how it feels so good to be a kid, free of adults' work, and free of adults' worry. Free of grown-up pressures. I suggest you talk to your mom about (Boy) and your feelings. It's not like (Boy) is marriage material!!! Ew! And I seriously doubt that you are ready for marriage, right?!?

When I heard of your situation, it reminded me of a song that you showed me. I thought of this song whenever you spoke of (Boy).

Hold On By Nichole Nordeman

It will find you at the bottom of a bottle It will find you at the needle's end It will find you when you beg and steal and borrow It will follow you into a stranger's bed It will find you when they serve you with the papers It will find you when the locks have changed again It will find you when you've called in all your favors It will meet you at the bridge's highest ledge So baby don't look down- it's a long way The sun will come around to a new day So hold on Love will find you Hold on He's right behind you now Just turn around And love will find you It will find you when the doctor's head is shaking It will find you in a boardroom mostly dead It will crawl into the foxhole where you're praying It will curl up in your halfway empty bed So baby don't believe that it's over Maybe you can't see 'round the corner To hang between two thieves in the darkness Love must believe you are worth it You're worth it

Joe's right, this song is right. Listen to the chorus at its deepest meaning.

So hold on Love will find you Hold on He's right behind you now Just turn around And love will find you

Hold on....Love and being grown up will come, when God wants it to....God's right behind you all the time. Turn to Him. Don't walk on a tight rope when there's fire beneath. I don't mean to hurt you're feelings or anything but we care about you and your choices. When we saw what you wrote, it kind of made us feel like we needed to at least say something. Who else will? Your mom would be at great help.

I thought about saying something to you before, but I didn't think you would make that choice.

Even though you saw it as good, imagine how God would look at it all.
I have hugged, shaken hands with, talked to , walked with, and just hung out with guys before. BUT as a friend, not like what you might picture. I think that friends should be friends. No more. Maybe you can find some other cool kids, boys and girls, who agree with this. Maybe you'll make some friends. You can always come to me for advise and I will try my hardest to answer.

We don't expect you to agree right away. Just think about it. And no matter what your choice is, we love ya!

Your friends forever,
Lanna
and Joe

P.S. Remember, any teenage boy that thinks a 12 year old girl is "hot" needs to have his head examined, no matter how cute she is. Don't fall for it.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting.
Teenaged boys: n. (teeen aaajed boweeez) 1. One step above ape.

(NO affence GUYS!!!! We just wanted to cheer her up with a joke. SORRY!)

Anyways, when the time comes, you will find LOVE.
Also, I don't believe in dating. I believe that when the time is right, courtmanship is much better.
I have a few BOY FRIENDS (note the space.) We are just friends and they know that. Also, if a guy or girl dosn't agree with you on this, they are not worth being close friends with anyways.

Now rethink those questions and let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,
Busy, busy, busy. I taught dance class today and tonight I have stuff for my play to do. BUT, the one thing that really just took the life of my day away was the taken life of our cat Ding-Dong. He was getting old. He was sick. She was basicly skin and bones. He had stopped eating and stopped grooming himself. His eyes were kind of glossed of looking, so we took him in. I carried him in, but I didn't stay. (if you like cats, now would be a good place to stop and read about diet coke) My mom carried him out to the car afterword in a box. I miss him. I am sad, but my sister more. It was her cat and she has had him since she was a small toddler. Please pray for my sister, that she come out of her sadness soon. I'm just glad it wasn't my cat, Yo-Yo. I have had him since I was a baby and he is almost like a twin brother to me. He is old, but he looks as if he has another 10 years in him. He is, altogether, a more hardy cat then Ding-Dong. He is strong and powerful. He weighs about 25 lbs. although he is NOT fat, just built big. Anyways, I better work on my dad's new blog/website for is artwork. I'm in charge of it. If you would like to see it, let me know!!!

The Free Music Concept......

This is from a web-site I like about the free music concept. I have had a few people tell me not to copy music....so I looked up the copyright laws on it and found this:

What is the Free Music Philosophy (FMP)?
It is an anarchistic grass-roots, but high-tech, system of spreading music: the idea that creating, copying, and distributing music must be as unrestricted as breathing air, plucking a blade of grass, or basking in the rays of the sun.

What does it mean to use the term "Free Music"?
The idea is similar to the notion of Free Software ,and like with Free Software, the word "free" refers to freedom, not price. Specifically, Free Music means that any individual has the freedom of copying, distributing, and modifying music for personal, noncommercial purposes. Free Music does not mean that musicians cannot charge for records, tapes, CDs, or DATs.
The above definition of Free implies that any tangible object cannot be made free. However, something that can be copied arbitrarily many times, like music, should be set free. When I say music, I mean the expression of ideas (in the form of a musical composition or a sound recording) on some medium, and not the medium itself. Thus you have the freedom to make a copy of a CD I've created, the freedom to download soundfiles of songs I've created from my server on the Internet, the freedom to cover or improve upon a song I've written, but you are not necessarily entitled to free CDs.

Why must we Free Music?
Music is a creative process. Today, when a musician publishes music, i.e., exposes it to the outside world, only a privileged set of individuals are able to use the music as they please. However, the artist has drawn from the creativity of many other musicians and there is an existential responsibility placed upon them to give this back unconditionally, so creativity is fostered among people. As a dissenting opinion in the Vanna White vs. Samsung case, Judge Kozinski writes:
All creators draw in part on the work of those who came before, referring to it, building on it, poking fun at it; we call this creativity, not piracy.
Isn't free copying of music infringing copyright law?
The
Audio Home Recording Act (AHRA) states:
No action may be brought under this title alleging infringement of copyright based on the manufacture, importation, or distribution of a digital audio recording device, a digital audio recording medium, an analog recording device, or an analog recording medium, or based on the noncommercial use by a consumer of such a device or medium for making digital musical recordings or analog musical recordings. A literal reading of the law indicates that individuals can make copies of music recordings for personal noncommercial use and cannot be sued for copyright infringement (at least as far as those devices listed above are used). The message we get from this law is "Music listeners, start copying
!"

Anyways, There's a LOT more there about this theory. Just go to: http://www.ram.org/ramblings/philosophy/fmp.html

My mom found this artical and I figured I out'a share!

Diet Coke~no joke!
By Shane Ellison

Countless numbers of dieters consume Diet Coke thinking that it is inert to their diet efforts. After all, it's called Diet Coke, right? Wrong!
Diet Coke, regardless of how many calories it has, wreaks havoc on your fat loss efforts and will ultimately cause you to gain weight. There are two main reasons for the Diet Coke fallacy. First, the sweet taste from Diet Coke elicits an insulin spike, which blocks your ability to burn fat. Second, artificial sweeteners found in Diet Coke disrupt satiety, the feeling of being full. Combined, the actions of Diet Coke go against a healthy lifestyle. Understanding why ensures that we think twice before consuming it.
When it comes to losing fat, it is more about how much sugar (or sugar substitute) you consume rather than calories or dietary fat intake. Hence, the goal is to consume as little sugar or sugar substitute as possible (including fruits and their juices). Why? The sweet flavor elicits the release of insulin from the pancreas to enhance the uptake of sugar by the cells so that it doesn't linger in the bloodstream. Once insulin is released it inhibits your fat burning hormone called HSL (hormone sensitive lipase). This hormone is responsible for releasing fat into the bloodstream to be utilized as fuel. If inhibited, your body is unable to burn fat and will then begin utilizing amino acids (from muscle) and carbohydrates as fuel. This will leave you feeling tired, grumpy, and sloth-like toward the end of the day. Not to mention, you will become abnormally hungry. Those with large amounts of HSL burn fat all day and look thin and slim. Those who inhibit it by eating or drinking the wrong substances grow fat throughout their adult years.
Second, as discovered by Professor Terry Davidson and associate professor Susan Withers at Purdue University, artificial sweeteners disrupt satiety, the feeling of being full. Their results, published in International Journal of Obesity showed that "mouth feel" plays a crucial role in the body's ability to count calories and that when we consume artificial sweeteners we disrupt the body's ability to count calories based on sweetness. Not able to use mouth feel to count calories, those who drink diet coke will overeat without conscious awareness. In other words, you think you're not eating like a pig, but in reality you are.
Diet Coke is not the only substance having these abilities. Makers of health food bars and protein supplements are either not aware or ignore the ill effects of sugar alternatives and sugar. This can be seen by the fact that most every health food bar and protein supplement is loaded with sugar or artificial sweeteners. The belief that these bars and supplements are healthy for you is a perfect example of how marketing strategies can supersede medical science and common sense.
In closing, Diet Coke is a joke. Stay away from it and other sugar sources if you're serious about losing fat and keeping it off forever. Regardless of your diet and/or training efforts, the aforementioned ill effects of sugar alternatives and sugar will greatly hinder them.

Next time you will think twice about drinking one of these!

Hello,
It's been a while, I've been busy. At the moment I am trying to read my two-year-old sister her favorite book while typing. But, I will try so very hard to get what has been spinning around in my head all day down.
I have been thinking about how some public schooled kids would benifit from being homeschooled, and how public school has its place.
It all popped into my head while I was reading the funnys in the paper last night. I came across one that, I'll try my best to explain, went a little something like this:

In a class room, a teacher is trying to get his restless student to mind.
"Zach! Stop messin' around and get back to your desk" The boy returns to his seat.
"Zach, stop peeking at other people's answers! And stop tapping your pencil on the desk!" The boy hesitates to stop, but does. A minute later, teacher comes to the boy with a folded paper in his hand and reaches out to hand it to the young student. "Here, take this and give it to your mom."
"What is it?" questions the student.
"It's a pamphlet explaining the benifits of homeschooling." the teacher answers.

This made me think that it is true that homeschoolers are different then public schoolers in many ways. One of the reasons is that we are focused on more by our parents. We have a closer bond then any other familys do. Most people think of homeschoolers as sheltered and that we do not know how to fend for ourselves in the real world. This is entirely untrue. I do things outside the home and family all of the time. I recently got a part in our local drama group's latest production, I play music and take lessons reguarly, I teach tap dance lessons and have a nice size of students my age, whom I see every week, I have many friends whom I also try to see as often as posible, and I am a reader for a group that reads to little children, whom are still learning their early reading skills. I am, to be honest, one of the most get-out-there kind of people I know. I think most children would do better at home then in a school, yet schools have thier place too. A safe place for kids who have an unsafe home, with drugs, violence, ect.....
Or for a torn apart home, with one parent, whom has to work.

I think kids would benifit, still, from being homeschooled. They have the family connection, less bad influenses, the parents has more time with the kids, more power over what their kids see, know, hear, and say, and they have all those learning experiences with the child (TOGETHER).

I'm sure I have spelled half my words in this post wrong, BUT thats OKAY! Spelling is my lowest subject, meaning that I'm not as strong in that subject as others. The theory "No child left behind" is, in my mind, a not very good theory. When a child is ready to read, she will let you know, you will see it. When a child is ready to do math, she will let you know. AND if she is ready to read before she is read for math, don't you think you should hold off on the math until she is ready? This way you aren't pushing her and making it a challenge for her to hate. She will catch up, and if they are a grade behind, that's OKAY too! That's what she's ready for, nothing more. See where I'm coming from?.......Good!

Now, you see my point on that. (<>

Sorry to bore you!

Blessings,

Lanna
